We all have dreams that we talk about doing, yet have you ever noticed how many people never actually create them? Whether it’s a dream lifestyle, a dream business, a dream vacation, most people don’t actually create their dreams. This is because to them it is just a hope, not something that they believe will actually happen.
Where do you have blocks or resistances in your life? What are things you say you dream about doing…but have never taken action on?
Where have you always wanted to go? Your dream vacation or experience?
What’s stopping you from going there? Because the reality is, if it was a priority to you then you would have made it happen already.
Resistances show up in our lives as excuses and distractions. When you are avoiding your dreams because of inner limiting beliefs, it shows up in subtle ways but the most obvious one is avoiding something that you say you want to do.
Limiting Beliefs Are Subtle
Do you dream of taking a 3-month vacation where you can relax, explore and see the world by immersing yourself in a culture, and people and place? Most people can’t even imagine it, and that’s why few do it.
A limiting belief around this may be that you don’t believe you can make enough money to afford this, or that you can’t build a business that would give you the freedom to travel for 3 months, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t possible. You just believe it isn’t possible for YOU.
Have you wanted to go on a safari in Africa, relax on a beach in the Caribbean, hike to the top of Machu Pichu? Whatever your dream vacation is, what are you doing to make it happen?
Act On Your Dream
- Is this travel at the top of your priority list?
- Do you review it each and every day with the goal of making sure you work your way towards it?
- Do you track flights to this location so that you can see when specials come up?
- Do you have a travel agent that you’ve told to keep an eye out for deals to this destination?
- What are you doing to take steps to make this a reality?
Reframe It
Belief work can be done on your own, but it often requires the help of an outside perspective. This is why I work with coaches, and why I help coach my clients through this.One simple tip that can easily create a change in your beliefs is to Reframe it. As yourself, “how can I…”. Rather than why? Or why not? Ask how? It’s a simple change that can move mountains. It encourages your brain to think of an answer rather than dwell on what you don’t have.
